DER Professor Leonardo Azevedo Distinguished in ULisboa/CGD Scientific Awards

The Department of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineering (DER) congratulates Professor Leonardo Azevedo on receiving an distintion in the University of Lisbon / Caixa Geral de Depósitos Scientific Awards.

This distinction is part of an annual initiative of the University of Lisbon, carried out in partnership with Caixa Geral de Depósitos, which aims to recognize the quality, impact, and international relevance of scientific research developed within the institution.

In the most recent edition, dozens of faculty members and researchers from ULisboa were distinguished across a wide range of scientific fields, reflecting excellence in research production across the University.

Professor Leonardo Azevedo was recognized for his contributions in the field of Earth Sciences and Geophysics, particularly his work on the development of geostatistical methodologies for the integration and interpretation of geophysical data, with relevant applications in geo-resources and environmental studies.

A faculty member at Instituto Superior Técnico and President of CERENA – Center for Natural Resources and the Environment, Leonardo Azevedo has carried out research with significant impact on the modeling of natural phenomena and the analysis of uncertainty in geological systems, reinforcing the role of Técnico and DER in high-level international scientific production.

DER welcomes this distinction, which recognizes the scientific merit of Professor Leonardo Azevedo and contributes to strengthening the visibility of the research developed within the Department.
