Guest Lecture at DER – Organic Petrology and Palynofacies in the Study of Potential Hydrocarbon Source Rocks

DER is pleased to host the following guest lecture:

“Organic Petrology and Palynofacies in the Study of Potential Hydrocarbon Source Rocks”
by Dr. Consuelo Navarro, Associate Professor at the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS), Bahia, Brazil.

📅 Date: July 14th, 2025
🕒 Time: 11:00 – 12:30
📍 Location: IST – Mining Building, Room 3.23

Dr. Consuelo Navarro holds a PhD in Geology from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and has a background in Biology. She specializes in Organic Petrology and Palynology, with a strong focus on paleoenvironmental interpretations based on palynomorph analysis and Paleozoic biochronostratigraphy. She is a faculty member of the postgraduate programmes in Environmental Science Education (PROFCIAMB/UEFS) and Geochemistry: Petroleum and the Environment (UFBA), and coordinates the outreach project Popularization of Geosciences (POPGEO/UEFS).

This lecture will offer valuable insights into geoscientific methodologies and their applications in hydrocarbon exploration and paleoenvironmental reconstruction.

Open to all. Attendance is free.
