DER organizes session on Mineral and Energy Resources Engineering Department at Madeira Torres Secondary School (Torres Vedras)

On May 6th, faculty members from the Mineral and Energy Resources Engineering Department (DER) visited the Agrupamento de Escolas Madeira Torres in Torres Vedras to lead a session on Georesources, as part of the Biology and Geology curriculum.

The initiative was attended by over 80 students from the 11th grade of the Science and Technology course, who participated in a lecture on the importance of mineral and energy resources in today’s society.

The session also included a presentation of the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) and the training programs offered by DER, covering Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate courses.

Throughout the morning, students took part in two practical activities:

  1. "Mineral and Energy Resources We Look at but Don’t See"
  2. "Smartphone: A Smart Gadget with and for Mineral Resources"

The session offered an interactive approach to understanding the presence and relevance of mineral resources in our daily lives.
