“Recursos+” Scholarship Awards Ceremony Highlights Partnership Between Industry and Academia

On October 20, at 5:30 p.m., the Noble Hall of Técnico hosted the “Recursos+” Scholarship Awards Ceremony, an initiative that celebrates the talent, merit, and commitment of students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree in Mining and Energy Resources Engineering, as well as the support of partner companies that make this investment in the future of the sector possible.
The event brought together representatives from 15 companies operating in different areas of Mineral and Energy Resources, whose participation played a key role in strengthening the connection between industry and academia.
The inspiring testimonies shared during the ceremony emphasized the importance of investing in people and knowledge as drivers of innovation and sustainability in a rapidly evolving sector shaped by the Energy Transition, Digital Transformation, and Emerging Technologies in the Extractive Industry.
The companies’ messages converged around a common theme: the growing need for qualified professionals in the field of Mining and Energy Resources Engineering, essential to meeting today’s energy and environmental challenges.
At the beginning of this new academic year, nine “Recursos+” scholarships were renewed for students who met the defined criteria — namely, passing 42 ECTS credits during their first year.
In addition, new scholarships were awarded to 12 students who placed the program as their first choice, further reinforcing the commitment to excellence and merit-based education.
This scholarship program reflects not only the dedication and hard work of the students but also the strong engagement and social responsibility of the partner companies, which cover the full annual tuition fees and continue to invest in the future of Energy Resources Engineering.
The 2025 partner companies include: Almina, Beralt, Fassa Bortolo, EPOS, Fravizel, Julipedra, Mocapor, Orica, Secil, Sibelco, Sifucel, SOLANCIS, STET, and Sulfúrea – Termas de Cabeço de Vide.
The “Recursos+” ceremony thus reaffirms the importance of collaboration between industry and academia as the foundation for a more sustainable, innovative, and energy-responsible future.
