On 28 May, Instituto Superior Técnico hosted a strategic meeting that brought together representatives from the Department of Mineral Resources Engineering (DER), the company ORICA, and an international delegation of around 18 members from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia.

The main goal of the meeting was to explore opportunities for academic and scientific collaboration, particularly through exchange programmes, joint research projects, and industry partnerships focused on innovation and the sustainable use of mineral resources.

The session, held on the Alameda campus, featured institutional and technical presentations from all participating entities, providing a productive space for dialogue on shared challenges and potential synergies in the field.

This initiative marks an important step in strengthening Técnico’s internationalisation strategy and in building strategic knowledge networks, fostering new forms of cooperation between academia and industry on a global scale.
