On 3 September 2026, the Department of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineering (DER) at Instituto Superior Técnico will host its Welcome Session for students enrolling in the Bachelor’s Degree in Mining and Energy Resources Engineering (LEME), the Master’s Degree in Geological and Mining Engineering (MEGM), and the Master’s Degree in Energy Resources Engineering (MERE).

The session will begin at 10:00 a.m. in Room QA1.1 (South Tower) and aims to provide new students with an introduction to the Department, its academic staff, and the various academic and student support structures that will accompany them throughout their journey at Técnico.

During the session, participants will learn more about DER’s academic programmes, the LEME tutoring system, and several student organisations and support services, including NUMIST – Mining Student Chapter of Instituto Superior Técnico, the Students’ Union of Instituto Superior Técnico (AEIST), the Student Traditions Committee (Comissão de Praxe), and the Academic Development Office.

The programme will also include presentations of the Department’s master’s programmes, offering students a broader understanding of the academic and professional opportunities within the fields of mineral resources, energy, geology, and mining engineering.
