DER Opens Applications for Advanced Summer School in Well-Logging and Formation Evaluation

The Department of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineering (DER) at Instituto Superior Técnico has opened applications for the Summer School “Well-Logging and Formation Evaluation – 2026 Edition”, an intensive training programme focused on advanced reservoir characterization.
Taking place from July 13 to 17, 2026, at Técnico Lisboa’s Alameda campus, the programme offers a specialized technical approach in a critical area for the energy industry: the acquisition and interpretation of well-logging data, and the evaluation of geological formations in real exploration contexts.
Aimed at MSc and PhD students, as well as early-career professionals, this Summer School is positioned as a niche training opportunity with direct application in applied geosciences and energy engineering—fields where the ability to interpret subsurface data is essential for informed decision-making.
With a limited intake of 25 participants, the programme prioritizes an intensive and interactive learning environment, enabling direct engagement with experts and in-depth technical development. Participation is free of charge for students of the University of Lisbon, with a fee of €50 for external participants, reinforcing DER’s commitment to advanced training and talent development.
This initiative is aligned with DER’s strategy to strengthen critical technical skills associated with the energy transition and sustainable resource management, bridging academic training with the demands of professional practice.
📅 Application deadline: June 30, 2026
